Attributes of God

Quick notes from 2 Thessalonians 3 this morning . . .

Verse 5: Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

The attributes of love and patience seem important here. Love is primarily associated with the Father (John 3:16, etc), but I hadn't thought of patience as Jesus' main virtue.

It makes sense though - he came down here to actually deal with all of us, and I can't imagine how much patience that took.
Any thoughts? Is patience the defining attribute of Jesus?

Teatime says...As one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal.5:22), patience would be a defining characteristic of Jesus. I think patience is related to obedience and suffering. (Heb. 5:8) "..He learned obedience from the things which He suffered."

but do you think it's THE defining characteristic of Jesus?
if not, why would Paul use the phrase he does?

Patience is closely related to MERCY. Truly, MERCY is one of the defining attributes of OUR LORD. Also, without LOVE, how can there be patience or mercy?
